Welcome to Empresaria Nómada! The podcast for restless-minded non-conformists who create, every day, a meaningful life. 🎙️ Sofía Mateo, a restless ass and digital strategist with a penchant for asking why. In this podcast you will find personal reflections, learnings and conversations with inspiring people who create their own path. We talk about entrepreneurship, personal development, travel, marketing and more, from the perspective of those who dare to make a mark and change the status quo. 🎁 By the way, on this website you’ll find cool strategies for businesses that make a beautiful impact. Today’s episode features a very special guest, Carmen Vidal, founder of the Periféricas project. With Carmen, we will explore exciting topics such as gender inequality, feminism in business and she will give us some recommendations that I consider crucial for our society. Periféricas, what is it? It isan online school of alternative feminisms, created by Carmen in 2016. Since then, she has lived a nomadic life between Morocco and Spain, in Galicia, her homeland. But her work transcends borders, offering trainings that range from intervention with immigrants and refugees to decolonial feminisms, topics that she considers vital but do not always receive the attention they deserve in academia or institutions. Why Periphericas? Carmen shares with us that her academic background led her to conceive this project as a way to bring crucial gender issues to a wider audience, without the limitations of traditional academia. Through flexible and accessible courses, she seeks to empower women who seek to expand their knowledge of gender equality, whether they are studying or working. We also talk about entrepreneurship from a feminist perspective, addressing issues such as imposter syndrome, perfectionism and the need to constantly prove our worth in a world where leadership is still associated with traditionally male characteristics. Carmen encourages us to believe in ourselves, to be brave and to recognize the value of entrepreneurship, especially as women in a world that still has entrenched gender biases. In addition to Periféricas, Carmen shares with us another project, “Proudly Rural”, an initiative that seeks to vindicate life in the rural world and celebrate its roots. A return to its origins that invites us to appreciate and value the diversity and richness of our communities. If you’re interested in delving deeper into these topics and connecting with Carmen, I invite you to follow her work on Instagram, both @orgullosamenterurales and @escuelaperifericas, and explore more on her website. Thanks for joining us on this journey of knowledge and empowerment! See you in the next episode – until then, keep exploring and growing!
