Hi! I’m Sofía Mateo, strategy and personal branding consultant, and you’re listening to “Empresaria Nómada”, the podcast where we talk about entrepreneurship, personal development, travel, marketing and much more, all from the perspective of an inquiring mind. In this episode I want to take you on an introspective journey about the decision making process when buying a product and the psychology of marketing that lies behind this reasoning. And I’m going to do it by sharing a true story: my personal dilemma about whether or not to buy Chicago Bulls slippers. If you’re an inquiring mind and want to explore how I analyze what went through my head in this process, and how this relates to marketing psychology, stick around because we’re getting started. A few weeks ago I watched the Netflix documentary “The Last Dance” about Michael Jordan and his time with the Chicago Bulls. This experience awakened in me a special connection to the team and its players, especially Pippen and Rodman, whose stories and personalities resonated deeply with me. From this emotional bond, I found myself considering the idea of buying Chicago Bulls slippers. Why? Because through storytelling and personal branding, I felt connected to the team’s history and values as represented by these players. This experience led me to reflect on how our purchasing decisions are influenced by emotional and narrative connections. In the end, a purchase is an emotional act that we validate rationally. Therefore, when developing your personal branding or marketing strategies, remember the importance of connecting emotionally with your audience. When we achieve that connection, we can influence purchasing decisions more effectively, aligning our products or services with the needs and values of our customers. I hope this reflection has inspired you to consider the power of storytelling and personal branding in your own marketing strategies. Remember that your stories and values can be the key to connecting with your audience in a deeper and more meaningful way. Are you ready to dive into this fascinating journey of discovery?
